How a moment of insight led to a revolution in relationship understanding
Caroline Given, the visionary founder of PMS GPS, recognized a fundamental disconnect in many relationships. As a confidante to many female friends, she repeatedly heard the same frustration: "They just don't understand what it's like to be a woman."
As a licensed therapist with practice in both Florida and New York, Caroline brings her professional understanding of psychology and relationship dynamics to PMS GPS. With a master's degree in clinical social work from the University of Central Florida and training in various therapeutic approaches, she's uniquely positioned to bridge the knowledge gap in relationships.
The idea for PMS GPS came to Caroline during a moment of clarity while enjoying steak tartare at The Odeon in New York City. "I was listening to yet another friend describe a fight with her boyfriend that could have been avoided if he'd just understood that she was in the premenstrual phase of her cycle," Caroline recalls. "That's when it hit me—what if we could give men a tool that would help them navigate these waters more effectively?"
Bringing together her clinical expertise in mental health and her passion for improving relationships, Caroline assembled a team of developers, doctors, and relationship experts to create an app that would demystify the menstrual cycle for partners, friends, and colleagues who want to be more supportive but don't know how.
We give both women and men the tools they need to build stronger, more understanding relationships by demystifying the hormonal cycle.
We translate complex hormonal patterns into practical, actionable advice that helps partners understand what's happening and how to respond.
By providing a shared language around hormonal cycles, we help couples talk more openly about needs and expectations throughout the month.
PMS GPS was developed in partnership with Avenued, a venture studio based in NYC.
